Shots and Thoughts

Photos and comments as I explore my passion for photography. Written to and for myself as a journal to track major moments and minor observations as I continue to evolve my visual art.

Shooting Middle School Graduation

Had a blast shooting our friends daughters middle school graduation tonight. So great to see all the smiles and proud parents.

Shooting events are tough and I have a lot of respect for graduation and wedding photographers, not an easy gig. Key is to anticipate and then shoot a lot. Shots like this one make it all worthwhile. These moms put it on the line everyday getting these kids through school. Can you tell they are ready for summer?

I always shoot the Nikon D4 set up for events as the auto focus and image capture speed is so good. Tonight I used the 24-70m lens as I anticipated these kind of group shots. And always have a fully charged battery!

Pro tip: for group shots take multiple shots, in fact for 5 people take at least 5 shots, 6 people at least 6 shots, etc. One of these will come out great!
